FAQs
Why is the decorative concrete covered with a colored powder?
A representative from Nord Construction will be back to power wash the area and put the finishing touches on your concrete. These finishing touches are what sets Nord’s workmanship apart from the others.
When can I walk on my new surface?
Upon completion of your surface, we recommend you follow these guidelines:
• No Foot Traffic/Use for 24 hours;
• No Vehicle Traffic for One week;
• If Stamped or Colored, DO NOT USE until final seal coat is applied. Sealer has a full cure time of 4 hours.What is the maintenance required for my decorative surface?
Your new surface is porous. To maintain your investment and brighten a dull surface, we recommend a sealant be applied to your surface annually by a concrete professional. A quality concrete sealer maximizes protection and lengthens the life of your project. Not all sealers are the same and some may darken or yellow your project. Call us to seal your surface, we want to protect your investment too.
Does the decorative color fade?
No, the color is UV resistant and the color will not fade. However, with wear and time, the sealant may become dull. We recommend applying a sealant to your surface annually.
Do I have to do anything special when removing snow in winter?
No, but please note that plowing tends to wear down your new surface.
Can I use salt on the surface in winter?
We recommend using calcium chloride, sand and/or cat litter on your surface. We advise against using rock salt, which increases the number of freeze/thaw cycles the concrete goes through and has the potential to damage your project.
Why concrete and not asphalt?
• Concrete is maintenance free and adds thousands of dollars to your investment.
• Concrete provides a wide variety of colors, textures, and decorative finishes.
• Concrete is durable and will hold up under heavy loads and excess traffic.
• Concrete will last a lifetime and grow stronger with age.
• Concrete makes a good first impression and provides instant “curb appeal.” Concrete says “quality construction.”
